About Us

Tropical Horizons Tours has been operating for over 20 years and has the experience to handle your travel needs. When travelling with us you will always do so in air-conditioned comfort and with trained and experienced local guides. Our tours range from full day tours North of Cairns and Port Douglas to Cape Tribulation , South as far as Mena Creek and Paronella Park and West past Mareeba and Granite Gorge. We also do half day tours, Kuranda Tours, and charters and overnight tours by arrangement.

Most of our guides have been trained to either Certificate IV in Guiding or are Eco Tourism Australia Certified Guides. Some have also recently received Awards by Industry in recognition for their superior customer service skills. We also have an experienced team of multi-lingual guides, so for some of our international guests, may wish to enquire about our scheduled bi lingual language assisted tours in order to make your experience even more relaxing.

We operate from a dedicated modern coach depot and first class office accommodation. We also operate with a fully trained permanent reservation team and an additional dedicated 24 Hour manned reservation service for all your bookings and any other inquires for your peace of mind. We operate 364 days a year (apart from Christmas day) and depart daily from Cairns and Port Douglas and offer little luxuries to make your experience truly special.

T-QUAL Accreditation

T-QUAL Accreditation is Australia’s national tourism accreditation framework, identifiable by a national symbol of quality. T-QUAL Accreditation was developed by governments and industry to promote quality experiences for tourism consumers by recognising sustainable and capable tourism businesses and operators nationally. The T-QUAL Tick identifies the tourism businesses and operators in Australia that have been endorsed as meeting the quality standards of T-QUAL Accreditation and provides one national symbol for consumers to be able to recognise quality products and services easily.

Industry Recognition

As well as our eco certification and as a further sign of our responsibilities to the environment, our company has been permitted to join Tropical North Queensland’s “Planet Safe Partnership” programme with other lead tour operators who are committed to sustainable tourism in the region. This admission to the partnership is in recognition of our products, excellent results and the way we manage our environmental sustainability.

Our Eco Tourism Credentials

Tropical Horizons Tours is committed to operating its business towards the highest environmental standards and in 2008, was proudly certified by Eco Tourism Australia as an Eco Certified Tour product for our Waterfalls, Daintree and Cape Tribulation, Misty Mountains Adventures and Exclusive Horizons products. The Eco Certification Program is a world first. It has been developed by industry ,addressing the need to identify genuine nature tourism and genuine Eco-tourism products in Australia. Eco tourism is tourism in a natural area and offers interesting ways to learn about the environment with an operator that uses resources wisely, contributes to conservation of the environment and helps local communities. It is ecological tourism with a primary focus on experiencing natural areas that foster environmental and cultural understanding appreciation and conservation.

Membership & Leadership of Far North Queensland Tour Operators Association

Also Tropical Horizons Tours takes a highly active and lead role in the promotion of sustainable and professional tourism in the Far North of Queensland through both its current Chairmanship and Committee roles of the Far North Queensland Tour Operators Association. This association has proudly amongst its members only the leaders in quality tour operations, in both Cairns and Port Douglas and you can thereby be assured of the quality of their operations and of these members awareness of the proper responsibilities that go with continuing membership to this association in the region of Cairns and Port Douglas.
